We would love for you to consider joining Kindred Spirits

Become a member:  Visitors are always welcome at our meetings February through November.  Please Contact Us to have your name added to the monthly invitation for our meetings.  As a guest your can attend at least three meetings before being asked to participate in paying dues.  New members are inducted in January and are expected to pay the yearly dues going forward.

Membership dues:  Membership dues are paid yearly and should be paid in full by March 31 of the calendar year.  Should you decide to leave book club before the end of the calendar year, there will be no refund of the dues already paid.

When we meet:  We meet January through November on the third Sunday of each month from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  December we celebrate by having a holiday party.  January is our business meeting and we usually choose a self-help book for our reading selection.  During our business meeting we confirm our reading selections, set our meeting schedule and calendar of events for the year. The month of September is now set aside to attend the Fall into Fiction, since we are now members of the UCAAB organization we participate in hosting the event; therefore there is no reading selection for the month.

Where we meet:  We usually meet at the homes of our members but occasionally we will dine out providing we find locations that allow us to meet without too many distractions or noise.

What we read:  We selection our books in December for the next year  We draw the months and assign members.  We primarily read the works of African-American authors.  Basically a 70-30 percent split, which roughly is 7 of the 10  selections we read are written by Black writers.  You may choose any genre you like but every other year each member chooses by genre such as suspense/thriller, romance, historical, biographical, autobiographical,  mystery, religious/inspirational, and political.
